Janesville Fire Marshall Sue North says the theme is "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm". To highlight the theme, North says 60% of fire deaths happen in homes without working smoke alarms. Janesville firefighters will be spending a little time in the classroom as part of Fire Prevention Week. Firefighters will visit 28 elementary, middle, and high schools, and 18 preschools and day-cares throughout the city.
