The Janesville City Council considers cutting the fire department's budget.  Fire Chief Jim Jensen says his department is already running pretty lean, even though the council is considering cuts in next year's proposed budget.  Jensen tells Your Talk Show on WCLO the city only has five-stations now, and would need seven to match the average in peer cities.  He also says the trucks are manned with three firefighters, while the national average is four.  Jensen says the current budget cutting plan would reduce the minimum number of first-responders on duty from 24 to 22.  He says it's well documented fewer personnel are less efficient and less safe.  The council plans to review the budget Wednesday night.
