Beloit PFC discusses settlement with top cops

The Beloit City Council may have approved a settlement that calls for the retirement of the City's top two cops, but the issue still needs to go before the Police and Fire Commission.

The PFC is scheduled to discuss the case administration regarding the pending complaints against Police Chief Norm Jacobs and Deputy Chief Tom Dunkin on Monday night at 5:00.

The Commission may adjourn into closed session to consider the appropriate action, including possible disposition of the complaints.

Jacobs and Dunkin have been on paid leave since June when an independent consultant ground "serious leadership issues" within the department.

The City manager filed charges with the PFC in October after a second independent assessment of Jacobs and Dunkin in particular.  The hearings were scheduled to start on Monday.

The retirement settlement approved by the City Council last week calls for payments of more than 108-thousand-dollars to Jacobs and more than 96-thousand to Dunkin.
