The Sustainable Janesville Committee is pleased to announce the 6th Annual Sustainable Janesville Awards program is underway and accepting applications. The purpose of the Sustainable Janesville Awards program is to reward, recognize and promote innovation and leadership in sustainability by businesses, community groups and individual citizens of the City of Janesville.
Recipients of this prestigious award will be recognized by the Sustainable Janesville Committee as a Sustainability Leader in the Community. The winner(s) will be announced at the Janesville City Council meeting on April 25 at 6p.m.
Any community member may nominate a Janesville business, community group or individual citizen that has demonstrated a commitment to sustainability, has shown continuous improvement in their sustainability efforts, or has shown achievement in a sustainability related issue. The Sustainable Janesville Committee will examine the following achievement areas when critiquing applications:
- Green Building
- Education and Awareness
- Renewable Energy or Energy Efficiency
- Solid Waste Minimization & Recycling
- Use of Renewable Resources
- Vehicle Miles traveled, Fuel Consumption
- Water Conservation
- Environmental Policies in Place and in Practice
- Other Sustainability Issues
Award winners must own a business or live within the corporate limits of the City of Janesville. Community groups should be based in the City of Janesville.
