Peggy Schutt of Janesville has a soft spot for police. Her son-in-law happens to be Milton’s police chief. So when several officers were gunned down by a sniper in Dallas, she was moved. She asked Chief Marquardt what more she and her friends could do to show there support besides offer baked goods. Marquardt says his officers had just approached him for additional bullet-proof vests capable of stopping rifle rounds. So Schutt started a “Go Fund Me” page and set up an account at the Bank of Milton to collect donations. In less than a week she’s already half way to her goal for six vests at a little more than $500 a vest.
