Hundreds of volunteers turn out for the United Way Blackhawk Region’s Day of Caring. Considering how many people volunteer every year to help the United Way’s the Day of Caring, it’s a wonder any other work gets done. Among the volunteers was Scott Beets of J.P. Cullen in Janesville, who typically spends his day as a Safety Specialist. Wednesday Beets was doing something a little bit different. He was gathered with volunteers around a table covered with craft supplies, and assembling educational packets. Joyce Schneider of Community Coordinated Child Care calls the effort incredibly valuable. United Way officials say more than 700 volunteers spent the day on more than 100 service projects.
