The Town of Beloit’s next police chief could already be working for the department. Two of the four finalists selected are sergeants on the force. They include Ron Northrop and Laura Palmer. The other two finalists are also from the area. Sergeant Don Bomkamp with the Fitchburg Police Department and Patrick Hoey, who’s currently the interim chief in Rockford. The town board is planning to interview the finalists to see who will replace current chief Steve Kopp, who’s been on the job since 2011.
