The Janesville Police Department asks the Janesville School District to pony up.

With five percent of all Janesville Police Officers assigned to work in the City’s Schools, Police Chief David Moore is asking the School District to pay it’s fair share.

At the Board of Education meeting Tuesday evening Moore suggested splitting the cost 75 percent and 25 percent, instead of the 50-50 agreement currently in place.

If the board decides to honor Moore’s request the School District’s share of the cost for the officers would increase by about $102,000.

The Board’s Finance Committee will discuss the request at a later date.
