AUDIO REPORT: Plenty of salt being used on Janesville streets

street-icy

Road crews in Janesville have been busy salting roads the last couple of days. Janesville Operations Director John Whitcomb freely admits it’s been a challenge for his plow drivers to keep up with this week’s rain and freezing conditions. Whitcomb says the rains tend to wash off the salt. The recent freezing rains have forced the city of Janesville to dump a lot of salt on both the main roads and side streets. He expects more than 300 tons has been used. Whitcomb says he’s watching the weather closely and is hoping for either warmer temperatures, or snow.
