Community Action’s new training center in Beloit is open. Program Manager Erick Williams says the space in the Eclipse Center will boast classrooms to help tutor high schoolers with their academics. Williams says in addition to tutoring, the space also features a gym, stage, and recording studio to help inspire the teen-agers in the arts. He says in his experience many high schoolers had no place of their own to go, since most programs like the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club were geared toward younger kids. The center will be used as classroom space for a number of other programs including the Fatherhood Initiative, Mentoring, and Transitional Jobs for adults.
