A group of Beloit citizens deliver a petition with nearly 200 signatures to the City Council.

League of United Latin American Citizens Chapter 341 President Jasmine Carbajal says the Latino community would like City officials to look into the possibility of creating a municipal identification card for those who are unable to obtain a State ID or drivers license.

Carbajal says some of the people who have trouble obtaining a State ID include the homeless, those who are unable to obtain their birth certificate, and undocumented immigrants.

City Manager Lori Curtis Luther says the City of Beloit supports the opportunity for all people to have an official drivers license and will continue to lobby for legislation that will allow this in Wisconsin as 12 other state have already done.

Curtis Luther went on to say the City will also continue to research how other communities like Milwaukee are implementing municipal identification cards.
