Hedberg Public Library hosts programs for caregivers of kids with special needs

Hedberg Public Library, 316 South Main Street, is partnering with Family Respite Care of Rock County to offer a series of programs aimed at providing resources for caregivers of youth with special needs. These free programs and workshops are held in the library’s Program Room and are open to the public.
 
Limited childcare will be available to youth with special needs and/or siblings under 8 years old. To sign up for childcare, please contact Family Respite Care Services at 608-758-0956 orfamily.respite@sbcglobal.net.
 
Autism 101

Join us for a free workshop for parents, family members and caregivers of newly diagnosed children and anyone interested in learning about Autism Spectrum Disorder. Attendees will receive informational materials including parenting resources, diagnosis information, helpful school tips, community resources and more.

What’s After High School?

Get help planning for your young adult’s future with this broad overview of the transition to adult life for young adults with disabilities and special needs. Learn about the role of schools, long-term supports, vocational resources, moving into adult health care, guardianship and other legal options, advocacy and the basics of self-determination.

This training is co-sponsored by CESA 2, Wisconsin Statewide Parent-Educator Initiative (WSPEI), Autism Society of South Central WI and the Southern Regional Center for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs.
