Cullen decides against Gubernatorial run

Tim Cullen of Janesville says he won’t be running for governor in 2018 after all. Cullen, a former Democratic state senator, had mulled running for several months, as Democrats seek a strong candidate to challenge Governor Scott Walker. The incumbent governor has not announced whether he will run for a third term. Cullen had spent time making phone calls for campaign contributions, but people were not as responsive as he hoped. Cullen admits competing financially with Walker would have been a “bigger, steeper hill” than he had expected. Cullen plans to remain active in public service through Common Cause, a nonprofit focused on campaign finance and ethics, and We Are Many:United Against Hate. He said he also would continue to speak out against gerrymandering.
