Janesville Schools budget increases

A rewarding twist in the proposed Janesville School District budget.  Spending is up, but the average property tax payment may be down.  The school board Tuesday night learned how school-related taxes could be almost $100 less for a home assessed at $100 thousand.  The reason is a larger tax base.  As far as increases in the almost $127 million spending plan, much of the 6% increase will come from energy upgrades.  The budget can’t be finalized until official state aid numbers are available this Friday.  The board is expected to make final changes and approve the budget in two weeks.
