One person is killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in the Town of Beloit.

The Town of Beloit Fire Department says crews were dispatched to the crash on the 2500 block of South Paddock Road around 12:30 p.m.

Witnesses reported that the single occupant of the vehicle was pinned inside.

Preliminary investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team suggests the vehicle left the road into a deep ditch and collided with a concrete culvert which caused the vehicle to come to a rest on it’s roof.

According to a news release the engine compartment of the vehicle caught fire and the occupant died as a result.

An autopsy is planned Saturday to positively identify the victim.
