(Gazette photo) Backpack searches, like Friday morning’s at Parker High School in Janesville, have now occurred often enough, that police Sergeant Aaron Ellis says students accept them as relatively normal. He says some students consider them routine and even thank officers for helping keep them safe. Police and school officials were responding to a written threat discovered Thursday afternoon in a bathroom. Ellis admits awareness is often heightened after shootings like the one last month in Florida, but adds even though this threat didn’t appear credible, they weren’t taking any chances.
