Downtown Janesville bars and taverns will be able to sell alcohol to spectators of this June’s Town Square Grand Prix bicycle race. Velo Club President Paul Murphy Tuesday morning asked the Alcohol License Advisory Committee to allow sales under the city’s existing ordinance allowing alcohol outside during special events on closed streets downtown. Murphy says this is only for the benefit of the licensed establishments and spectators, and the Grand Prix will not profit from the sales of alcohol.
