The Diversity Action Team of Rock County wants to call attention to the large number of young people flowing from our schools into the prison system. Spokesperson Jeanne Carfora says a large majority of these children are learning disabled, have a history or poverty, or abuse, and would benefit from additional education or counseling. Diversity Action is planning a provocative presentation on "School to Prison: An American Epidemic." Former Beloit resident and criminal justice professor at U-W Platteville Joe Lomax will be featured. The free public event from 6:30 til 8:00 at the Beloit Public Library.
