A criminal justice system set up in Rock County called "Drug Court" is being heralded as a success. Circuit Court Judge Richard Werner is very pleased with the results of the effort since it began in 2007. Werner notes the highly supervised opportunity for rehabilitation, is changing lives. Werner says the lives of many drug addicted individuals are a mess. He says those who successfully complete the court offered requirements have a chance to regain control of their lives. Werner says, not only does it help address the underlying needs of highly addicted individuals while protecting society, but it also saves a lot of money by offering alternatives to jail time. He estimates more than $3 million dollars has been saved. More than the candidates accepted into the program have been successful.
