False Report of Police Impersonator Leads to Arrest
A Janesville woman is under arrest after allegedly lying to police and telling them that she had been pulled over at gunpoint by a police impersonator.
According to a new release, Janesville Police arrested 23-year-old Miranda M. Rivers on Monday on suspicion of obstructing.
Police say Rivers called Police late Thursday last week to report that she had been pulled over in the area of Main and Racine Streets by what she thought was a police officer. Rivers told police that the person ordered her out of her vehicle at gunpoint, and searched the vehicle, and that they may have taken some prescription medication.
During their investigation police reviewed video surveillance from a nearby business, and determined that the incident could not have occurred as Rivers reported it.
