Downtown Janesville is looking a little more attractive. City Public Works Director Carl Weber opened up a newly reconstructed River Street Tuesday morning. Weber says the half-mile stretch was one of the worst in the city, and refilling the potholes was getting expensive. Not all the work is complete. Benches, decorative lights, and signage will be installed yet this fall. Next spring even more noticeable changes will take place. Weber says 1000 plants will be used to make a "Rain Garden". He says the environmentally friendly landscaping will also serve as a more inviting look for a secondary entrance to the city.
