29-year-old Nathan C. Middleton

Rock County Man Accused of Burning Body of Missing Woman

A Rock County man is arrested in connection with the death of an 18-year-old Fitchburg woman who disappeared at the end of October.

29-year-old Nathan C. Middleton was arrested yesterday on suspicion of hiding a corpse, mutilating a corpse, failure to notify the coroner of a death, solicitation for prostitution, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities say he hid the body of 18-year-old Aprina Paul and burned it in a fire pit behind his house.

According to court documents, Middleton admitted he destroyed Paul's body, but denied killing her.

Middleton has been in custody at the Rock County Jail on suspicion of probation violation since November first, when authorities were tipped off that Paul's body could be at his home near Evansville.

Middleton is expected to be formally charged at his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
