WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on potential loss of cable access.

Some Charter Cable TV subscribers may be losing their public access channels.

Janesville Public Access Channel Station Manager Judy Kneece tells WCLO’s Stan Milam Show JATV 12 and the school district’s channel will be moving to the 900 channels. Kneece calls it a business decision for Charter, who can get more money for the channels current used by local access. These public access channels may not come in on some televisions anymore, because they're digital. Kneece worries many subscribers don’t have the digital equipment to receive public access programming when they’re changed. She is also concerned for viewers if a rental charge is attached to a needed converter box.

The change is scheduled to start Tuesday.

In another article about this subject, it seemed that the only worthwhile thing on public access was the city council meetings, etc. In todays day and age, I don't understand why that wouldn't just be available as a streaming (or even just archived) web broadcast (for some reason I hate the other term for this, so I will not use it).

janesvillecomments, the period for phone numbers I believe is a common European style, not just for fancy web "artistes". I'm seeing it more and more though; I think I'm neutral on the change (I'm still undecided on the American/European month/day/year formatting).

If you don't register to have Gazette continue to put their OnTV guide in your paper, they intend to leave it out deliberately, starting Sat, August 30th.

A Sunday August 3rd insert to The Gazette gives the options of calling a hotline 755-8386, calling their call center during normal hours at 741-6650 or sending an e-mail to circ@GazetteXtra.com, placing OnTV in the subject and entering name, address, and phone in the body of the message.
.
Personally, I watch tv from next to my computer and have http://www.tvguide.com/listings/default.... in a bookmark to see what's on the boob tube. If only we had the option to have all the other inserts left out of the Gazette.
.
Also, Gazette, your print ad used periods to punctuate phone numbers, rather than dashes. Periods are for i.p. addresses or to indicate decimal points in a series of numbers. Dashes are for separating sections of phone numbers. I know a lot of "stylish" web "ARTISTES" use periods, but don't be lusers - stick with dashes in phone numbers.

If I have to get a box for the top of my TV to watch anything I'll just go to DishTV.

Nice that we lose TVGuide channel. Now I cant see whats on when the Gazette forgets to put a TV guide in saturdays paper or it gets tossed by accident. Digital subscribers can just bring it up with a touch of a button.
