School board reduces tax levy increase
Podcast Episode
WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on the budget reductions that bring the tax levy increase to 3.7 percent.
Through a series of voluntary budget cuts, the Janesville School Board reduces the district's property tax levy from 8.9 percent to 3.7 percent.
Several school board members previously requested a list of reductions that wouldn't impact student learning in order to bring the tax levy increase down. The reductions themselves total $740,000, with additional alternative funding options to equal the 3.7 percent levy increase.
