— Janesville Parker High’s girls volleyball struggled Saturday at the Colbeigh Invitational in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Vikings lost all seven of their matches to finish 0-7 in the eight-team invite. Appleton East, Fox Valley Lutheran and Laconia all finished 6-1, but Appleton East was declared the winner based on points scored.

Parker’s closest match was against host Wisconsin Rapids where the Vikings lost 25-23 and 28-26.

“We just have to learn to finish in close games,” Parker coach Dave Lehmann said. “We make a mistake it seems at a crucial time and that’s really hurting us right now.

“But this is an outstanding invite and that’s why we play in in. There are always a couple of teams here that end up playing at state. It’s a great test for us, but I was hoping for a little better results than what we had today.”

Senior Shelby Demos led the Vikings with 31 kills while Cassie Niles finished with 58 assists. Lehmann praised the play of Lindsey Hoff, who led the team in digs.

Parker is at Beloit Memorial in its Big Eight Conference opener Tuesday.
