WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Kiwanis flag retirement

A final rest comes to "Old Glory" Thursday morning in Janesville.

The Golden “K” Kiwanis have a simple, but important reason for hosting a flag burning ceremony at 10:30. Organizer David Soderberg says it's patriotism. He says many flags are tattered and torn, and shouldn't be on display. He's surprised by how many flags were collected this year. A total of 550. In recent years the number was little more than 100.

The ceremonial burning will take place in Kiwanis Park.
