WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports on the first annual Sheriff's Office Awards.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office honored civilians and officers alike during its first annual awards ceremony Wednesday.

Paul Bartle earned the Citizen's Award after saving the life of the victim of a single vehicle rollover accident near Highway 213 and Kettle Road. After calling 911, Bartle began administering CPR. The victim was flown to University Hospital in Madison with life-threatening injuries. Perhaps most notably, Bartle performed this act on a day in January when the temperature reached a high of 11 degrees.

Deputy Karl Weberg received multiple awards at the ceremony for his role in the pursuit of the Footville Mid-America Bank robbers. He received the FBI Director's Certificate, Medal of Valor and Deputy of the Year awards.

Deputy Curtis Streuly and Clinton Police Officer Kim Rau also received the Medal of Valor. The two shot a Clinton man when the man fired his gun as officers tried to remove his family safely from their home. A state investigation cleared the two officers.
