A collaborative group is working to keep a triathlon in Janesville.

Organizer Kitty Cole says her group, made of local organizations, hopes to hold the triathlon this summer. The most difficult part is obtaining City Council approval for the event. Cole says the group has proposed the swim take place in the Rock River. There's an ordinance against swimming in the Rock River, so the City Council will need to approve a permit. When the YMCA hosted the triathlon, the swim took place at Lions Beach, which was closed in the weeks leading up to the event.

Cole expects the council to review the issue later this month.
