Local Congressman argues against budget
Podcast Episode
WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on taxes
Congressman Paul Ryan of Janesville is concerned over a number of likely new taxes.
A key concern for the Congressman is over the federal budget. Ryan says the conference report on the budget, being considered in Congress next week includes a variety of new taxes, including an increase in income taxes across the board. The Republican says the budget isn't the only bill the Congressman is concerned about. He says we've lost an opportunity with the recently passed Farm Bill. The president has pledged to veto the bill, but Ryan says there's enough votes to override that veto.
Ryan says the Farm Bill favors big corporate farms and will hurt family operations like those common in Wisconsin.
