A 17-year-old with ties to Janesville and Madison is in custody after Janesville Police learned he was in the area Tuesday.

Deputy Police Chief Dave Moore says police received information that Tremell D. Marshall was armed with a handgun. Moore says Marshall, with addresses in Madison and Janesville, barricaded himself with his mother in an apartment in the 2900 block of Kennedy Road in Janesville. The Janesville SWAT team responded and attempted to communicate with Marshall by removing glass from a window. Moore says when the SWAT team contact Marshall, Marshall was aware the K9 unit was nearby and told officers he did not want to be bit.

Marshall was returned to Dane County on domestic violence charges, including substantial battery, strangulation, stalking and second degree recklessly endangering safety.
