WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on police warning about sales crews

Janesville police are warning residents about a door to door sales crew in the area.

Tough economic times can bring out disreputable sales practices, particularly from roving bands of sales crews. Janesville Police Crime Prevention Officer Chad Sullivan says a group of young people, selling magazines in the area, may be stretching the truth. He says they claim to live in the neighborhood, and are raising money for a trip or charity. Sullivan urges residents to ask for identification, more information, and keep their money until they receive the goods or services promised from anyone knocking on the door unsolicited. Police have made contact with the company, asking them to register their crews.

Sullivan says the company has been cooperating.
