Beloit teen charged with attempted murder of a police officer
A 17-year-old from Beloit and a 14-year-old from Rockford face several charges after a drive-by shooting in Rockford.
According to Rockford Police, four males were driving south on South Main Street Thursday in a stolen car. One of the occupants fired a gunshot at a passing motorist. No one was struck, and the intended target flagged down a police officer. As the officer pursued the stolen car, they noticed one of the occupants of the stolen car had a handgun pointed out the car window. The pursuit ended at a dead end on Wisconsin Street and the four suspects fled on foot. While the officer chased the suspects on foot, one of the suspects fired a gun at the officer. The officer wasn't hit, and numerous officers began a search of the area. Two of the suspects were found hiding in a wooded tree line.
Police say 17-year-old Jordan M. Carillo of Beloit and the 14-year-old from Rockford are both charged with attempted murder of a police officer, aggravated discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
