State suspends Beloit doctor's license

A Beloit doctor is ordered to undgergo treatment after reporting to work intoxicated twice.

The order of suspension from the Medical Examining Board states Joseph Besso reported to work at Beloit Memorial Hospital on August 17 with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit. He was escorted home and subsequently submitted his resignation with 30 days' notice. The hospital agreed to the 30 days, as long as he took daily alcohol tests. Two days after the first incident, he tested positive for alcohol, again over the legal limit. His employment and privileges at the hospital were immediately terminated. The suspension of his license is in effect for 30 days or until he can prove he's completed a treatment program.

The suspension may be continued during investigation of the case.
