WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Janesville Area Convention and Tourism official's visit to legislators

Janesville Area Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Christine Rebout says times are tight, and so is competition.

Rebout joined other tourism professionals recently in a trip to Madison, to warn legislators of the dangers of continued budget cuts. She says tourism pumped $13 billion into the state's economy in 2008.

She adds other states like Michigan aren't making deep cuts to tourism programs like Wisconsin, and that could jeopardize the success of this important state industry.
