Fire consumes Fort business

Seven fire departments are helping Fort Atkinson battle flames at a garden center.

Fort Atkinson Police say about ten businesses around Blodgett's Garden Center, 1222 Janesville Ave, have been evacuated. The Fireside Restaurant, a motel and strip mall are among those being evacuated.

Jefferson, Cambridge, Milton, Whitewater, Lake Mills, Watertown and Johnson Creek fire departments are assisting Fort Atkinson.

For the record, Yes, Blodgett's had a fire before.
It was in 1967 and it was caused by a neighboring lumber company that spread to their business.
Cygnus Business Media was also evacuated today, which is across the street.
Unfortunately, Blodgetts was in the middle of remodeling. My heart goes out to Jack and family. He says he will rebuild.
