More repairs on Janesville's Ice Arena

WCLO's / WJVL's Steve Benton reports on repairs to the Janesville Ice Area and how renovation plans are moving along.
JANESVILLE The city of Janesville spends over $12,000 on repairs to the Ice Arena as plans for renovations to the facility move forward.
City Manager, Eric Levitt says mechanical problems in July led to the repair of a coil and replacement of a compressor.
Meanwhile, city engineers are overseeing design work on renovations to the arena. The Janesville City Council will make the final decision on the extent of repairs, which will probably be implemented next spring.

People don't think the rink is used because the see no cars in the parking lot, but it is being used ALOT. Parents drop their kids off and come back and pick them up. Just because you don't see cars in the parking lot DON'T ASSUME you know what is going on. Monday - Thursday the ice is full the figure skaters and hockey club use the ice alot. Plus the public skate on friday, saturday and sunday. But I have found that if I don't use it we don't need it. And no you are not paying for my child to skate I pay all the fees

The ice arena is a local facility that caters to our children. No one seems to appreciate city funded locations for children to learn sports for a fee. Yet, heaven forbid they cut sports from schools! You're still paying for sports programs at the school level. This facility allows our youth to learn a sport that is NOT offered at the public schools. Explain the difference to me please....

Gee maybe a new one would have been better in the long run. Heck they can just throw money my way I will make more lasting upgrades to my house.
