WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on an increase in the number of burglaries over the Thanksgiving holiday

Janesville and Beloit police are investigating an apparent spike in the number of burglaries.

Janesville Deputy Police Chief Dan Davis says ten burglaries were reported over the four day holiday weekend. He says only three were reported last year. Beloit Police Captain Vince Sciame also reports a rash of burglaries on the west side of the city. Officials say large flat screen televisions, electronics, and jewelry are the most common targets.

Officials urge residents to follow basic home security measures, and help look after neighbor's homes while they're gone.
