Alcohol plays a factor in a Rock County vehicle rollover.
Just after 2:00 am on Sunday Rock County Sheriff's deputies along with Orfordville Fire and EMS, Footville EMS, and Janesville EMS responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on South Tollefson Road near West Lang Road in Spring Valley Township.
Investigation determined that an SUV driven by 26-year-old Todd Haugen of Footville was headed south on Tollefson when it drifted off the roadway, overcorrected, and then skidded sideways and flipped over at least two times into the east ditch.
Both Haugen, and his passenger, 23-year-old Heather Higginbotham of Footville were not wearing their seatbelts, and were ejected from the vehicle. The two were transported to local hospitals. Haugen had non-life threatening injuries, and Higginbotham was treated and released.
Deputies determined alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash. Haugen was cited for OWI causing injuries and a seatbelt violation. Higginbotham received a seatbelt violation.
