Emerald Ash Borer Confirmed in Beloit

The emerald ash borer has been found in the City of Beloit for the first time.

State officials confirmed the infestation on Wednesday.

According to City Forestry Supervisor Mike Ferger, the infested terrace tree was located on LaSalle Street and was identified during a scheduled removal of the tree.

Emerald Ash Borer was discovered last year in Rock County, in Janesville and Clinton. The county is under a quarantine that forbids the transportation of firewood and certain other products out of the county.
