The Janesville City Council votes to get two employees for the price of one.
Monday night the Janesville City Council voted six to one to eliminate the position of Economic Development Director, and create two new positions entitled Economic Development Coordinator.
Assistant City Manager Jay Winzenz says the the two positions would be funded by money already budgeted for the Economic Development Director's Salary. That postion was previously held by Vic Grassman before he resigned earlier this year.
The decision to hire two Economic Development Coordinators instead of one Economic Development Director comes at a cost saving over other options, which included filling the vacant Community Development Director position and hiring just on Economic Development Coordinator.
The council voted six to one in favor of eliminating the Economic Development Director position, with Duwayne Severson dissenting.
