The City of Edgerton moves toward a user based fee when it comes to storm water.
Currently the City of Edgerton pay for storm water control improvements through property taxes, which means users pay based on their property value, and not on how much runoff they create. Tax-free properties like church's don't contribute at all.
Monday night the Edgerton City Council held a public hearing and unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance establishing a storm water utility.
If approved, starting July first users would be charged a storm wate fee based on the amount of impervious surface on their property.
