School District of Beloit Blasts Voucher Expansion

The school district of Beloit isn't staying quiet about it's disappointment in the Joint Finance Committee's move to expand voucher schools.

A news release says School District of Beloit Officials are "shocked and dismayed" at the decision to expand the program statewide with a cap at one percent of a district's enrollment.

With 7000 students, the cost of giving out 70 vouchers, or one percent of enrollment would be over $500,000.

In addition to the voucher expansion, the district also blasts the $150 per-public-student allocation increase that was part of the deal, as far from replacing the over $500 per student allocation lost in the last budget cycle.
