Janesville School District and Teachers Union Begin Negotiations

The Janesville school district and it's teacher's union, the Janesville Education Association kick off their first contract negotiation since Act 10.

Wednesday afternoon the two groups exchanged initial proposals before going into closed session to negotiate.

The Janesville Education Association is proposing a pay increase of 2.07% - the maximum allowed by law.

The school districts initial proposal included no pay increase, but a base wage of $40,393 for employees with a masters degree and $35,370 for those without.

The two groups didn't reach any kind of agreement Wednesday night, and will meet again to negotiate on Monday.
