The DNR was called to the Dellbrook Golf Course in Delavan around 9:30 am on Monday morning for the report of a snapping turtle in a sand bunker.
The turtle, who had been attempting to lay her eggs sustained severe head and shell injuries which appered to have been inflicted by a golf club.
Reportedly there were about 30 to 35 golfers on the course between the time the turtle was last seen ok, and when she was found.
The turtle eventually died while awaiting surgery.
The Global Conservation Group of Watertown along with PETA are offering a $6,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in this animal cruelty case.
