Declining enrollment, property taxes affecting school aid
Declining enrollment takes it's toll on area school districts.
The Whitewater School District stands to lost over 10 percent in state general aid due to declining enrollment.
The school district of Beloit received a state aid increase of 3.37 percent, thanks to a voter approved referendum. Because of declining property values in Beloit, the state will pick up over 60 percent of the cost of the 70 million dollar referendum.
The School District of Janesville stands to see a state aid increase of 1.39 percent.
