Search for girls body could take time

Investigators could be spending days looking for the remains of a long lost little girl, possible buried on Janesville's northeast side. A "tip", leading police to search for a little girl's body in an empty residential lot at the corner of East Rotamer and Wright Roads, is the first one in a long time for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Captain Jerry Haferman says none of the current staff has ever worked a lead in the 66-year-old case. The forward momentum of the case appears centered on a strong reaction from several cadaver dogs. Haferman doesn't know what they'll find, but he thinks there's something. They're currently sifting through dozens of quadrants of dirt by hand. Georgia Jean Weckler was last seen walking up the lane to her rural Fort Atkinson home on May 1st 1947. No evidence of her disappearance has ever been found.
