A Janesville teacher who resigned in July after she was accused of showing up to work drunk was paid to leave.
According to a document from the Janesville School District, 50-year-old Maria Caya was paid over $18,000 in exchange for not suing the district for age discrimination, or any other reason. She'll also continue to receive her salary through August 25th, although her resignation was effective July 9th.
Back in June Caya was accused of getting sick and passing out while supervising a group of fourth graders with other teachers on a field trip to the bowling alley.
Although police found her to have a blood alcohol concentration of .27, she was never criminally charged in the incident.
