Member of Tokyo Fire Department visits Janesville

The Janesville Fire Department may have something to offer the international fire/rescue community.  During her visit to Janesville this week, Tokyo Fire Department Sergeant Hitomi Ishiguro remarked how impressed she was with local training programs.  Ishiguro even participated in a shared training session at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center.  She says basic expectations for Janesville firefighters/paramedics may actually be a little igher than in Tokyo.  Ishigura became aware of Janesville when she acted as interpreter for former Janesville Fire Chief Larry Grorud, during his visit to Japan five years ago, when he was President of the International Fire Chief's Association.  She was able to make the trip to Janesville because she is attending the International Association of Fire Chief's conference in Chicago this week.  She says she likes the town, and everyone in the fire department appears warm and friendly.
