Structural engineers will be at the Evansville High School Football Field this week checking the safety of the bleachers after a weekend fire. A police officer noticed smoke coming from he press box about 11:30 Saturday night. The press box was destroyed, and School District Superintendent Jerry Roth says heat from the fire warped some adjacent bleachers. The varsity boys football team has a home game scheduled Friday. Some football equipment and memorabilia stored in the press box were also destroyed. The Evansville Fire Department and a Rock County Sheriff's Office fire inspector are investigating.
