Rabies confirmed in Rock County

The Rock County Health Department is urging pet owners to have thier animals vaccinated against rabies.  Health Officer Karen Cain says a dog in the Footville are came home with a dead bat, and the residents had it tested.  The results came back positive for rabies.  Cain says luckily the dog had its shots, but about half of the pet owners in Rock County don't properly vaccinate their pets.  This is the first animal to be confirmed with rabies in the county since 2011.  In Wisconsin last year 30 animals were confirmed to have rabies, and 29 were bats.
